About this "The Wonder Years" episode:
The Wonder Years - "Good-bye" is the 20th episode of season 3 and it was aired in April 24, 1990.
Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) is flailing in Mr. Collin's math class. Despite his best efforts, Kevin can only muster average 'C' grades. Kevin is mostly content with this, reasoning to himself that he is trying his best. However, Kevin becomes curious when he sees that Paul received a note from Mr. Collins on his math paper. Kevin goes to discuss his grades with Mr. Collins, who thinks that Kevin is asking to be tutored. Mr. Collins begins to personally tutor Kevin, who begins to receive better grades.
One afternoon, Mr. Collins tells Kevin that he would not be able to help Kevin with his math for the time being due to other commitments. Kevin takes this harshly, and purposefully flunks his next math test in retaliation, which disturbs Mr. Collins greatly, and Kevin himself regrets it, as the weekend progresses. Kevin returns to school after the weekend to find out that Mr. Collins had died over the weekend from a heart condition, something he was suffering from for a long time.
The substitute math teacher, Mr. DiPerna, later reveals to Kevin that Mr. Collins had seemingly misplaced Kevin's math test. Kevin is allowed to take his math test again, which he applies himself diligently on. As Kevin turns it in, he tells Mr. Diperna that he doesn't have to grade it, as Kevin knows that it is an A+. As Kevin walks out of the classroom, he turns back to see a vision of Mr. Collins at his old desk.
